Craig Covello 9/4/2011 - As many of you know, I've cut back on my writing significantly over the last few months. After several hundred articles, it was time to take a break and reflect on more personal issues in my life. But from time to time, I run across a story which may be worthy of your attention. This is one of those times. Les Christine of CNN Money published an article last Friday entitled "Gibson Guitar CEO Fights Back". Yes, it appears that the world-famous Gibson Guitar company may be in the crosshairs of the White House. I was going to do some research on the topic and try to present an alternative viewpoint, but I think that Kevin Rush has an excellent companion article posted on A Hollywood Republican which puts things into perspective nicely. I suggest that you read both articles and then form your opinion. If you have a contrary viewpoint, I'd appreciate your input. Because for the life of me, I can't understand why we, as Americans, tolerate a federal government that seems preoccupied with rewarding certain companies with taxpayer dollars while punishing others, aka picking winners and losers. Because it's no coincidence that the winners and losers seem to be defined upon partisan politics and political contributions. General Electric comes to mind. Yes, it's a given that life is not perfect, and there will always be political scandal. But I cannot remember a time when there has been more Chicago style political corruption and crony capitalism than under the Obama administration. For all practical purposes, tyranny is flourishing within our very own country. Perhaps then, it's understandable that businesses are paralyzed with fear and unwilling to hire employees for the foreseeable future. If you doubt that, take a look at the August job numbers. Then look at the economic forecast for the next 24 months. 20% of American men are not working in this country. We haven't seen numbers like this since World War II. It's profound. Job Creation, for Obama it’s Priority Zero by Kevin Rush Perhaps Fender is next. Your thoughts? Comments? 9/6/2011 8:15:20 Carmen Agree? Yes Well, after reading both articles, I feel physically ill - again. I hope you and Karen are doing well, though, and are enjoying Texas :) 7/31/2011 9:23:35 Diane "I wish I could do it, but I'd love to see someone stand in front of Congress ala Mel Gibson's ""The Patriot"" waving an American Flag, yelling "" Hold the line!"" This newest version of a Debt Deal is a piece of crap. I pray the Hobbits ""Hold the line"" one more time. They know why they were elected. HOLD THE LINE!!" 8/22/2011 6:38:54 Paul Richards Agree? Yes "I've noticed your shift in priorities - didn't know how you could keep up the daily blog but enjoyed every one. Now I'll just keep an eye out for the random releases. I was talking with several friends this weekend and we all shared a similar perspective and I wondered if you had picked up on it, and if so, is there really something to it. We all think that something's afoot with Hillary. She's had some cosmetic work done, she finally after many years changed her wardrobe for the announcement (for Obama) that Bashar Assad should step down, she's looking and acting more presidential than Obama, and appears to have strengthened her international relationships (however, I continue to object to her support for a one-world-government or at least putting UN edicts above US law). Here's our take on it. If the numbers for Obama don't improve significantly, is the groundwork being laid by those behind the scenes to advise Obama that he has to announce that he will not run for re-election, and then have Hillary step to the plate. In addition to his poor poll numbers and no apparent plan(s) to do what is really necessary to create jobs and grow the economy, he's not getting the campaign funding he expected and it is becoming more and more evident to even his loyal supporters that he's not up to the job. I've been amazed at how many people are finally recognizing that he pays lip-service to creating jobs while stabbing us all in the back with job-killing policies. Obama's out would be either medical - he's never released his records so he can claim anything he wants, or, he could claim security concerns for his children as a result of death threats against his family due to his getting Bin Laden. Just thought this whole situation might be something you'd keep in the back of your mind and as things evolve, maybe share your perspective. Hope you're enjoying your new life in Texas. Paul " 9/5/2011 9:20:14 Teresa Stewart Agree? Yes "Well said by all. Thanks, Craig, Les and Kevin. |
